How to Speedup Internet on Windows XP?

There are some hidden settings in Windows XP which helps you to improve the speed of internet connections.

Here I am going to explain two important procedure to increase your internet access speed?

1). Limit reservable bandwidth

2). Registry tweak - "Max Connections Per Server"

1) Limit reservable bandwidth
Microsoft's description about this settings

Determines the percentage of connection bandwidth that the system can reserve. This value limits the combined bandwidth reservations of all programs running on the system.

By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.

If you enable this setting, you can use the "Bandwidth limit" box to adjust the amount of bandwidth the system can reserve.

If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the system uses the default value of 20 percent of the connection.

Important: If a bandwidth limit is set for a particular network adapter in the registry, this setting is ignored when configuring that network adapter.

Step.1

Go to RUN, then type gpedit.msc.

Step. 2

Group Policy editor will open and then go to Administrative Template ,expand it .Then select Network expand it . (Click on the "+" symbol to expand)

Step. 3

Select "QoS Packet Scheduler" under "Network". Then go to right side window and double click "Limit reservable bandwidth"

Step. 4

If it is disabled or not, by default its value (bandwidth %) is 20 % [ Go to Explain tab for more details ]. Enable it and set the Bandwidth limit to 0 %, Press OK.

Procedure -1 Finished .

2). Registry tweak - "Max Connections Per Server"

Step.1

Go to RUN then type "regedit".

Step. 2

Value No: 1

Create a DWORD value and name it as "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server". Press Enter.

Select that value then Right click >> Modify

Select Decimal and change value to 10, then OK.
