Forgot Windows XP password or Can't to Logon to XP - Reset Windows Administrator Password easily


Sometimes we forgot Windows XP password or After installation of Windows XP or other software you can't Logon to Windows XP, Lets make it simple , If you want to reset your Windows XP's Administrator password, here is a free and simple solution.


I assume you have "bootable Windows XP CD" with you. In Windows XP there is a secret door to access "Windows User Accounts Manager".

Lets start ...
1. Restart your system with a bootable Windows XP CD inside CD-rom. (Go to BIOS and select "Boot Option" --> Boot from CD).

2."Press any key to boot from CD" message will appear on the screen, Press "Enter" key.
3. Then "Windows Setup" starts, wait until all files are loaded.

4. When "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, Press "ENTER" key to Setup Windows now.

5. Press F8 to accept license agreement.

6. On the next screen you see option to do a Repair.
Message on the screen : “If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup can try to repair it
Select your XP installation (using Up and Down arrow) and Press "R" to begin the Repair process.

7. Now the Setup inspects your hard disk and starts copying system files . ( It will take several minutes - Approx 10-15 minutes)

8. After copying files stage, you will be required or ask to reboot or Setup will reboot your system automatically after 15 seconds.
Message on screen: “Your computer will reboot in 15 seconds

9. While rebooting, “pressing any key to boot from the CD" will appear on screen , Wait until that message disappears automatically. Then the setup resume automatically .
Now you can see graphical "Installing Windows" on screen (mouse enabled screen).

*** THE HACK ***
10. When you see "Installing Devices" progress bar on the lower left side of the screen, press SHIFT + F10. A command console will open up .

11.Type NUSRMGR.CPL at the command prompt and press Enter. Graphical "User Accounts" Manager in the Control Panel will open.

12. Simply select the account you want to Reset/Add/Remove/Change .... do anything you need.
Double click the user account you want to change the password and select "Change Password" option from the left side of the window .( Set a simple password or a null password ). Then close the "User Accounts" window, type Exit on the command prompt and continue with the Repair. Windows may ask Windows XP Product Key after repair process.


13. After finishing Repair, you will be able to log on with your new password.
Your Data, Programs and Personalized settings should remain unchanged.
